Mid-Senior Electronics Engineer

As a Mid–Senior Electronics Engineer at Sentante, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between cutting-edge robotic technology and real-world clinical application. Electronics is currently the most acute single point of risk in our engineering organization, and this role exists for an ambitious engineer ready to own complete subsystems end-to-end, ensuring they are robust, manufacturable, and fully compliant.

You will help ensure our product meets high standards of reliability and safety.

About the role

You will have a unique opportunity to grow your technical expertise inside one of the most complex robotic medical systems under development. You will have full technical authority over your assigned electronics subsystems - from initial schematic design through multi-layer layout, physical bring-up, and EMC pre-compliance testing.

This role is deliberately open to an engineer who is looking for a complex system environment challenging enough to rapidly accelerate their growth. While experienced team members are available for strategic engineering guidance, you are expected to independently drive day-to-day decisions, collaborating daily with embedded firmware and mechanical teams right at the hardware-software boundary.

Key
responsibilities

  • Subsystem Architecture & Mixed-Signal Design

Take complete end-to-end technical ownership of assigned electronics subsystems, driving the lifecycle from initial schematics to complex 4-to-6 layer PCB layouts and full physical board bring-up. You will ensure microvolt-level analog precision (force measurements, current sensing) and high-frequency digital switching (encoder readouts, stepper controls) safely coexist without cross-domain interference.
  • EMC Compliance & Galvanic Isolation

Architect and build all hardware with rigorous medical compliance discipline from the outset (utilizing optimized ground planes, filter topologies, shielding, and cable routing) to comfortably pass IEC 60601-1-2 Class A tests. You will design galvanically isolated power setups and communication interfaces to guarantee strict 4 kVrms isolation and 1x MOPP requirements under IEC 60601-1.
  • Actuation & Motor Driver Integration

Integrate advanced stepper motor driver electronics across our multi-motor robotic platform, configuring dual H-bridge topologies, microstepping to 1/128, sensorless stall detection, and robust programmable overcurrent protections directly at the chip level.
  • Robust Communication Interfaces

Maintain and optimize our internal star-topology communication hardware operating over RS485 at 500 kbps. You will design and validate ultra-reliable physical layers capable of providing extreme ESD protection (±12 kV contact / ±15 kV air) across six synchronized patient-side manipulators.
  • DHF & Regulatory Documentation

Actively document all hardware design decisions, generate completely traceable schematics, and compile necessary technical engineering records for the Design History File (DHF) to ensure the platform flawlessly withstands strict regulatory audit scrutiny.

Required skills

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

3–8 years of professional electronics design experience, with at least 2 years spent within medical devices or a closely related, high-rigor regulated industry (such as aerospace, automotive or defense).

PCB Fluency & Tools

Proven track record designing complex multi-layer mixed-signal boards, including careful management of analog/digital ground domains, ADC input protection, and reference circuit layout

Mindset & Ownership

An end-to-end owner who designs, debugs, and stands by their hardware, remaining highly honest about technical uncertainties and natural at working transparently alongside embedded firmware developers.

Strong Advantages

Early hardware-level security knowledge (secure boot support, TRNG integration, hardware domain isolation) to accelerate upcoming FDA security requirements. Practical experience designing for small-batch assembly setups, optimizing test points, and managing connectors for manual production to minimize manufacturing rework.
